Workout Entry (12/30)

Took Wednesday off.

While waiting for Big Mary to get there:
A. ERG - 3 min@1:50/500m average (818 m), 3 min@1:52/500m (790 m)
B. Crunch machine 3x10 - 55,65,65 lbs (I think, forgot to write it down...)
When she got there, we did the shoulder exercise that I wrote down on my way over:
1. Shoulder Press 3x15 - 30, 30, 30 lbs
2. Cable Rows 3x12 - 55, 55, 55 lbs (separate: 27.5 each hand)
3. Upright Rows 3x8 - 20, 17.5, 17.5lbs (dumbbells)
4. Thrusters 30sec ON, 15 sec OFF (x4) - 2@17.5, 2@15 lbs
5. Anterior Shoulder Flys 2x15 - 8,10 lbs
6. Shoulder Flys 3x15 - 10,10,10 lbs

7. Deadlift 5x5 - 155,175,175,175,175 lbs
8. Romanian 3x8 - 135,155,155 lbs
9. Back extensions 2x10@25 lbs, 15@10lbs
10. Side extensions 3x10 (10lbs, no rest in between)
11. Pullups 3x7


A. Thought that instead of sitting in the food court reading, I'd "work" on my cardio.  Don't remember if my erg pace is better or worse than during the school year's.  Doesn't matter, NEW GOAL: >900 meters in 3 minutes.  I did the calculations for this, my average pace needs to be under 1:40.  My deadline for this goal is asap, so every time I go to the gym, I'll be working on it.
B. I was just messing around, UCSF doesnt have the hyperextension machine, which is normally where I do the weighted situps.

1. Didn't want to push the weight too much first time back (mental note: there are no weights above 30 lbs upstairs), and wanted to go downstairs to get weight (or move mary).  Felt a good burn towards the end.
2. I don't like this machine, can't use the triangle because the weights are separate for each hand.  Noticed that this is the same weight as one arm row, I guess it would be due to the slight rotation I have for doing one arm row, or it could be the set reps. (12 instead of 7 or 8)
3. causes discomfort in my shoulders, maybe its just tight, but probably wont do this too often.  Also, I prefer using barbell over dumbbells
4. Thrusters = pain
5. I can probably weight up next time, it just feels awkward since this is the first time I did this (with weights)
6. could weight up, probably shouldn't.  I want to strengthen shoulders, not bulk them up, but should I have reps over 15?

7. I need help with my grip, almost failed at the last rep of the last set.  Don't know if I should weight up and struggle with my grip, or rep up.  (the former is better for my ego :D )
8. Romanian shouldn't come after Deadlift, at least not with my back.  Thinking off moving romanians to another workout day, problem is, this would require me to come to the gym more often, and it's quite the bitch...
9. Back extension should not come after back intensive stuff.  I know this, and yet I still do it.  Also, I swore I'd stay away from this damn exercise, what the hell is wrong with me?  Same thing as last time, back tightened
10. Retardedness continues.  why would i do this on top of a tight lower back? My back went into spasm after getting off the machine, the right side stayed locked for a while.  foam rolled a loooooong time before continuing on to pullups.
11. I just can't seem to get more than 7 at a time, but I can do 7 reps for each set with relatively little reps.  Two plans of action: (1) spend the entire day doing pullup pyramids, or (2) Follow pullups with assisted pullups.  I'll do both.


I should probably take the next few days off to rest my back, but I probably won't listen to myself.  I guess I could just do arm stuff.

5. Back Extension 10@25lbs, 15@10lbs
6. Snatches 3x5 - 45,45,45
7. Bench Press (Machine) 10@35lbs, 2x7@45, 4@50 both sides
8. Inclined Bench Press (Machine) 3x10 - 100,110,110

(1) my grip almost fails before feeling much in the lower back, same with romanian
(2) keep forgetting to check what the reps are supposed to be, although I dont think it matters.  focused on not bending the arm too much as to not get the biceps too involved.
(3) I can definitely go higher in weights, but I cant properly anchor myself, so I just did more reps
(4) Made sure back stayed straight. Not feeling too much in the hamstrings, maybe I should increase weight, but didn't this time because grip and lower back was tired from deadlifting
(5) Had a scary moment, lower back tightened, foam rolled to loosen it up
(6) Thought that I'd throw in something for the arms, they're slowly wilting :(
(7) I don't like bench machines, but thought that I'd try this one because the weights are not attached to both grips, so it's more like dumbbells, but didn't like it: had to fight gravity as well as the tension, so I was super shaky.


Don't understand why I workout with both Mary's, I always feel awkward referring to the other one as Mary when talking to one of the Mary's

So as you can probably see for yourself, there has been a change of layout here.  All I did was add a picture for background and chose a random template, and for some *unknown* reason, I suddenly think that my blog is sooo much better.

Workout Entry (12/28)

Ran at Kezar (abandoned by the two Mary's...) by myself
mile run + 30 mins at ~2 min pace, a bit higher
Did the mile run for the first time in a whiiiiile.  got 6:55, which was not as bad as I thought it would be.  My winter running goal was to run Lake Merced at under a 8 min/mile pace (Merced is 4.6 miles).  I feel that I am much too winded after just 1, I will need to go harder during my runs from now on.

Going after coop Achievements

Been playing Cooperative in SC2, going for those achievements.  So much cannon rushing, 7 pooling, and bunker/reapering.

There's no potatoes at home...  That makes me a sad Assface...

Assface's Workout Entry #1 (Update)

Monday - 12/20
3 x 7 pullups
3x15 pushup with 60 seconds rest in between

just getting ready for something other than not sitting on my ass (or face, depends how you like to think about it) all day and night

Tuesday - 12/21
5x5 deadlift (bar+35+25,+10,+0,+0,+5 lbs)
3x7 romanian (bar 35+25) hamstrings so tight....
5x7 pullups (bw)  not sure how to work the weight belt (i think it's weight belt) will have to use dumbbells...
One arm cable rows 3x7 (55 lbs, i think)  feels like too much biceps
Seated rows 3x10 (90 lbs)
back extensions 3x15 (no weight) 
inclined bench press (forgot weight)
some more random sets of pullups while waiting for others to finish
stretched

the bar felt like it was less than 45 lbs, i should try to remember to find out how much it weighs.
Today was more about getting back to lifting so that I wouldn't die from soreness.

Wednesday - 12/22

Jogging uphill and downhill, not too fat of a slope

POTATO UPDATE!

I've been bad, I haven't been keeping up with the potatoes updates :(  Anyways, here's an update in the world of potatoes: 97 cents for 10 lbs of Russet potatoes at Safeway!!!  That's a LOT of mashed potatoes.

On a separate note, I went home this weekend, and my *new* laptop just suddenly decided to stop working... I called for tech support and landed some Indian guy with a thick-ass accent and it ended with him suggesting I take a look at the physical hard drive and me reminding him that doing so will probably void my warranty...asshole.  So I'll be bringing my laptop into one of their places in SF on Wednesday.  Damn I hate commutting.  Now that my new computer is gone, I cannot play SC2 and I am definitely jonesing for a hit...

New Blog

The name is courtesy of Big Murr, THANKS!  So here we are watching the Giants playoff game (GO GIANTS!) and Jay asks if anyone updated their blog recently.  And we decided I should start one.
Just so to clarify, this blog will not just talk about my daily consumption potatoes.

Anyways, names that Dragon House wanted my blogs are:
- Casa de Burro
- 4X Play or XXXX Play (from Jay wanting to see a quadruple play in baseball, what a dumbass)
- goat coitus ("Goat fuck yourself")
- we got raped (not mine, but should be connie's)
- Butt His Face (I believe derived from butterface)
- Face Down Ass Up (Jay was a proponent of this, but maybe that's just cuz he likes it that way)
As you can see, a lot of these just ended up sounding like gay/porn sites.

Perhaps I'll have something else after practice and the Giants game.
